Geneva Creek Basin and the Geneva Creek Iron Fens are a beautiful and unique natural phenomenon.  There are 8 Iron Fens known to exist in the world, all of which are in Colorado.  Linda Myers with Patrol 12 has been working with the Clear Creek County Open Space Commission to preserve the Iron Fens.  Linda arranged for fence work to begin during the 2007 Aspencades, and while a great deal of work has been done, the area will need more help in 2008.  The plans for the area are; to complete the fencing that will protect the Fens, and to hopefully create walkways and a parking area so visitors can still enjoy the Fens while protecting them.  Clear Creek County Open Space has offered to provide guided trips for interested groups.  You can get more info on the Geneva Creek Iron Fens by visiting the Clear Creek County Open Space website at http://www.co.clear-creek.co.us/OSWebsite/GenevaCreek.htm or by emailing Linda

COHVCO’s TIGeR teams were created to work with the Forest Service and BLM to collect the GPS, Pictures etc... for all off-highway roads so that these roads can be considered for the Travel Management Plan.  Roads on the Travel Management Plan will be legal to be driven, all other roads, even your secret roads, will become illegal to be traveled on.  The Travel Management Plan "will provide for a system of national forest system roads, national forest system trails and areas on national forest system lands that are designated for motor vehicle use by class and if appropriate, by season.  Once these roads, trails, and areas are designated, motor vehicle use that is not in accordance with these designations would be prohibited, unless exempted from the designations" (copied from Travel Management Rule, Implementation Strategy, Rocky Mountain Region, page 3).  Visit http://tiger.cohvco.org/ for more information.
