OUR PURPOSE

ASPENCADES 2010

Each year the aspen trees in Colorado turn a beautiful gold.  We celebrate this change with a weekend event called Aspencades.  The event is held in September during the turn.  We run trails especially rich in the golden colors of the aspens and back at camp after the trips we have a big barbeque and bonfire where we tell lies and talk about the summer.

Last weekend I was up in St. Elmo and saw a few Aspen trees starting to turn with the slightest bit of yellow on them reminding me it's getting to be that time of year again. Time to celebrate the beginning of Fall with the beautiful GOLD in our beautiful mountains! As always we will be running some great trails to view the turning of the aspen trees.  This year’s event will take place the 25th of September at the Timberline Group Campground.

Camping will be available Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th evenings at the Timberline campground.  There is no electricity or water at the site but two port-a-potties are available. There is only about a 0.5 mile of improved dirt road from Hwy 285 to the campground. This year we have secured both campground loops! We can easily fit over 50 camps! There are spots for RVs (no hookups), Campers, Pop-Ups and Tents!

Trails will range from easy to moderate. Saturday morning we plan on running Twin Cone, Red Cone and Boreas / Georgia Passes.  Dinner Saturday night will include Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Chicken and fixins. Adult and non-adult beverages will be provided. Drawings for prizes after dinner. Not everyone will win something but if you don't register and participate you will not have a chance.

During check-in on Saturday there will be hot coffee and pastries to get you ready for viewing. Coffee and pastries will be available Sunday morning to get you ready for your return to town.

heck-in for Trips and Prize tickets will be from 8 - 9AM at the campsite, look for the Registration table on the first loop. You must register, check-in and run one of the trips to have a chance at the drawings Saturday night!  A special thanks to High Country Performance 4x4 for supporting our event.

This event is only for MHJC members.  Invitations to the event will be sent out soon.  If you are interested in joining or if you have any questions please contact Frank Eichenlaub.  Hope to see you there.
